Vapes
Choosing a Vape That Fits the Way You Live
Convenience, discretion, and consistency are the three qualities that lead many people toward vapes, and all three come together in a format that fits in a pocket or bag. When you are short on time, a vape delivers a measured experience without grinding, rolling, or waiting. When you want to be considerate of the people around you, the reduced odor and quick dissipation make it a practical choice. And when you want to know that today’s session will feel like yesterday’s, the controlled dosing of a quality vape gives you that reliability.
At Altius Dispensary, we treat vapes as a serious category, not an afterthought. This page is for our Round Lake Beach location, where our team helps both newcomers and seasoned consumers understand what sets different vape products apart. Altius, meaning higher, inspires our motto: Change Your Altitude. That idea guides how we curate our vape shelf, because the right device and the right oil can genuinely change how you feel throughout your day.
Understanding the Main Types of Vapes
Not every vape works the same way, and knowing the differences helps you shop with confidence. The two most common formats you will find at our counter are disposable vapes and 510-thread cartridges paired with a reusable battery. Disposables arrive ready to use, require no setup, and are discarded once the oil is finished. Cartridges thread onto a battery you keep, which lets you swap flavors and strains while reducing waste over time.
Beyond the hardware, the oil inside matters just as much. Here is how the common oil types compare:
- Distillate: A highly refined oil with high potency and a neutral flavor, often blended with botanical or cannabis-derived terpenes for taste.
- Live resin: Made from flash-frozen flower, this oil preserves a fuller terpene profile for a more aromatic, true-to-plant experience.
- Rosin: A solventless option produced with heat and pressure, prized by consumers who want a cleaner extraction method.
- CO2 oil: Extracted with pressurized carbon dioxide, offering a balanced profile that sits between distillate and live resin.
When you visit Altius Dispensary, our staff can walk you through these categories so you match the oil type to the experience you want, whether that is a strong, no-frills effect or a flavorful, nuanced draw.
Technical Specifications Worth Knowing
A little technical knowledge goes a long way toward a satisfying vape experience. Most reusable batteries use the universal 510-thread connection, which means a cartridge you buy from us will fit nearly any standard battery you already own. Batteries also vary in voltage. Lower voltage settings produce cooler, smoother vapor and preserve terpene flavor, while higher settings create larger, warmer clouds and more immediate effect. Many adjustable batteries let you cycle through voltage levels, so you can fine-tune each session.
Coil and airflow design also shape the draw. Ceramic coils heat oil evenly and tend to carry flavor well, which is why many premium cartridges use them. Battery capacity, measured in milliamp-hours, determines how long you can go between charges, so heavier users may prefer a higher-capacity battery. If your device ever stops producing vapor, the fix is often as simple as a fresh charge or a new battery. Even the simplest items, like a new battery for your vape, can become a fun shopping trip as you peruse our inventory.
Everyday Scenarios Where Vapes Shine
Different lifestyles call for different tools, and vapes adapt to many routines. Consider a few scenarios our Round Lake Beach customers describe:
- The busy schedule: When you have only a few minutes, a disposable vape offers a controlled experience without preparation or cleanup.
- The social outing: A discreet device with minimal odor lets you keep your use low-key and considerate in shared spaces.
- The flavor seeker: A live resin cartridge paired with a low-voltage battery brings out the terpene character of a favorite strain.
- The wellness routine: Precise, repeatable dosing supports a measured approach for those who use cannabis as part of a daily balance.
Each of these ties back to our mission: to provide access to a curated cannabis experience that supports a quest for higher wellness. We select vape products that perform reliably across all of these situations.
